Starckwood Retirement Village

More than fifty years ago, the late George and Annie Starck resolved to make an extraordinarily generous gift – that of bequeathing their magnificent home for the benefit of the elderly. The result was the establishment of a fine retirement complex in the grounds of the Starck homestead that has provided many residents with a caring home.

Unit Prices

The retirement village on the estate, known as Starckwood Village, consists of 60 high-quality one and two bedroomed units of six blocks (Blackwood, Fernwood, Yellowwood, Oakwood, Cherrywood & Rosewood). With the exception of Cherrywood (a double story block fitted with a lift), all the blocks are single story co-joined ground floor garden cottages built on open portions of the spacious wooded grounds.

Accommodation in the garden cottages consists of a variety of 1 or 2 bedroom layouts, each with their full private bathroom fitted (Shower, Basin, Bath and Toilet). All the units are upgraded at regular intervals and offer beautiful and spacious layouts with sunshine streaming in through large windows and or sliding doors.

Units range between a very generous 51m² 1 Bedroom at R1 470 000 and spacious 72m² 2 Bedroom options at R1 900 000, some with a designated garage or parking bay included. Because it is a LifeRight village, no transfer fees are applicable and the very affordable levies range between R2 200 and R3 000pm. No compulsory meals are applicable and an optional DSTV package is available at an extra cost.

The estate also offers the Maryport Care Centre which can accommodate 65 residents - 2 acute wards of 4 beds each to assist residents in short-term recovery as well. Assisted Living is offered in 10 houses on the property, accommodating up to 12 residents each. General Information

Meals can be ordered at a nominal fee for weekdays or weekends. Age qualification is 60 years, however, 10% of residents may be between the ages of 50-60 and you may bring your pet along.

The communal facilities are beautifully maintained and residents have many benefits at their disposal such as a swimming pool, lounge, library, hairdresser and much more.
